A Personal Reflection on Leadership and Governance

According to the author, Apnapan is a reflective work that captures experiences, observations and learnings from Shri Chouhan’s long political and organisational journey alongside Prime Minister Modi.

Drawing upon more than three decades of association, the book traces their shared journey from grassroots party workers to leadership roles in governance, including their respective tenures as Chief Ministers and their current responsibilities in the Union Government.

The narrative seeks to present not only personal recollections but also broader lessons in public leadership, governance and organisational commitment.

Themes Rooted in Public Service

The book revolves around several principles frequently associated with governance and public welfare, including:

  • Seva (service)
  • Antyodaya (upliftment of the last person)
  • Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation)
  • Nation First
  • Lok Kalyan (public welfare)

Through anecdotes and experiences, the author attempts to highlight how these ideas have influenced decision-making, policy implementation and public life.

The book also discusses aspects of Prime Minister Modi’s governance approach, major policy initiatives and the philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.”

A Read for Political and Leadership Enthusiasts

The publication is positioned as a resource for political workers, students, entrepreneurs, women leaders and readers interested in governance, leadership and public administration.

Observers note that books authored by serving political leaders often provide valuable insight into policy thinking, governance priorities and organisational culture, making them relevant beyond political circles.

About the Author

Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been one of India’s longest-serving state leaders, serving four terms as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh between 2005 and 2023.

He currently serves as Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development after being elected to the Lok Sabha from Vidisha in 2024.

His political career spans over three decades and includes leadership roles within the Bharatiya Janata Party and parliamentary responsibilities at both state and national levels.

Impact on Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Sector

Large-scale book launches and public policy events in the national capital contribute to business travel, event tourism and hospitality demand, particularly in segments such as convention venues, hotels, transport services and catering. Events attended by senior political leaders, policymakers, academics and media professionals often generate short-term demand for accommodation and meetings infrastructure. Additionally, publications focusing on governance, leadership and public administration can become part of intellectual tourism and policy discourse events hosted by universities, think tanks and cultural institutions, supporting India’s growing knowledge and conference tourism ecosystem.
