Finnair’s long-haul Business Class brings together comfort, award-winning design and distinctly Finnish touches, allowing passengers to experience a taste of Finland from the moment they step onboard. From Finnish design and cuisine to elements of the country’s culture and hospitality, the experience offers a glimpse of Finland’s essence even before travellers land.
For Indian travellers flying from Delhi to Helsinki and onwards across Finnair’s network, here are five elements that make the Business Class experience distinctive.
1. A seat designed around how you travel

At the heart of Finnair’s long-haul Business Class is the AirLounge seat, designed in collaboration with Collins Aerospace. Unlike a traditional reclining seat, its fixed-shell design creates a spacious environment, with different positions suited to working, reading, relaxing or putting one’s feet up. The seat converts into a fully flat bed, while its design also gives passengers the flexibility to sit cross-legged or stretch out comfortably, with a greater sense of personal space.
2. Dining inspired by Finland and beyond

Finnair’s Business Class menu brings together Finnish flavours and influences from the destinations across its network. On most long-haul flights, passengers can enjoy a multi-course main meal after take-off, followed by a lighter meal closer to arrival. The menu features a choice of main courses, complemented by starters, cheese and dessert, alongside a selection of wines and other beverages. Passengers can also pre-select their preferred main course ahead of the flight. For Indian travellers, this adds another dimension to the journey, introducing them to Nordic flavours while maintaining the choice and variety expected from a premium long-haul experience.
3. Finnish design, from seat to cabin
Finnair brings its Finnish heritage into the Business Class cabin through a series of considered design details. From the AirLounge seat, which draws on principles of Finnish furniture design, to the textiles created by Finnish design house Marimekko, the cabin reflects Finland’s understated approach to design. Vintage patterns by Maija Isola add another layer of character to the space.
4. Dining served with a distinctly Finnish touch

The Business Class experience extends to the table itself. Finnair’s tableware has been created by Finnish designer Harri Koskinen for Iittala, featuring the Kuulas range of ceramics and glass.
The rounded plates and glasses are designed to feel more like tableware you would use at home than conventional airline serviceware, bringing together functionality and aesthetics. The welcome drink continues to be served in the iconic Ultima Thule glass, first introduced on Finnair’s New York route in 1969.
5. A cabin designed for both switching off and staying connected

The latest in-flight entertainment system features an 18-inch screen with a selection of movies and TV shows, complemented by a redesigned interface intended to make viewing more comfortable, particularly during overnight flights. For those who want to stay productive, the Business Class setup includes USB-C connectivity, wireless charging, PC power and a flexible table arrangement. Eligible passengers can also access complimentary internet for the duration of their flight, making it easier to stay connected while travelling long-haul.
Together, these details reflect Finnair’s approach to Business Class: combining Finnish design, thoughtful functionality, and comfort to make the long-haul journey itself an important part of the travel experience.
