Department of Fisheries Strengthens Cleanliness and Administrative Efficiency Through Special Campaign 6.0

New Delhi, November 5, 2026: The Department of Fisheries, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, has successfully concluded its participation in Special Campaign 6.0, conducted from October 2 to 31, 2026. The campaign, undertaken under the guidance of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), focused on institutionalising cleanliness, reducing administrative pendency, improving records management and making better use of office space and resources.

The Department reported progress across cleanliness drives, public grievance disposal, physical and electronic records management, scrap disposal and e-waste handling, reflecting its efforts to improve workplace organisation and citizen-centric governance.

40 Cleanliness Campaigns Completed

The Department achieved its target of conducting 40 cleanliness campaigns during the month-long initiative. The activities were aimed at promoting regular cleanliness practices and creating more organised and productive government workplaces.

Alongside workplace cleanliness, the campaign placed emphasis on resolving pending public matters. The Department disposed of all 100 public grievances and all 30 public grievance appeals received during the campaign. It also cleared four references from Members of Parliament and three references received from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

745 Physical Files Weed Out, 25 E-Files Closed

Records management and digitisation formed an important part of Special Campaign 6.0. The Department reviewed 800 physical files, of which 745 were weeded out, helping streamline record-keeping and reduce the accumulation of redundant documents.

For electronic records, 45 e-files were taken up for review, with 25 files closed during the campaign. The exercise was intended to improve file management and support more efficient administrative processes.

Scrap Disposal Frees 1,150 Sq. Ft. of Office Space

The campaign also focused on improving the utilisation of government office premises. Through the disposal of scrap and redundant materials, the Department and its offices freed approximately 1,150 square feet of office space.

In addition, an e-waste management exercise covered 308 items across various categories of electronic and electrical equipment. The initiative highlights the importance of responsible handling of obsolete office equipment and better resource management.

More Than 120 Social Media Posts Shared

To increase public awareness and showcase the activities undertaken during the campaign, the Department shared more than 120 posts across social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, Truth Social, Bluesky and YouTube.

The posts highlighted the Department’s cleanliness and administrative improvement initiatives while encouraging wider awareness of the importance of Swachhata and efficient public administration.

What the Campaign Means for Fisheries and Hospitality

Clean and efficient government offices can contribute to better coordination, improved public service delivery and smoother administrative processes across sectors, including fisheries and allied activities.

For the hospitality and tourism industry, the campaign’s emphasis on cleanliness, waste management and resource optimisation reflects priorities that are also relevant to hotels, restaurants, food-processing facilities, seafood businesses and tourism destinations.

The e-waste management exercise and disposal of redundant materials also underline the importance of responsible waste-handling practices. Such approaches could support wider sustainability efforts across hospitality establishments and fisheries-linked businesses, where efficient resource use and environmental responsibility are increasingly important.

The successful completion of Special Campaign 6.0 reinforces the Department of Fisheries’ focus on institutionalising Swachhata, reducing pendency, strengthening accountability and creating a more organised and citizen-friendly administrative environment.
