Every memorable hospitality experience is created by skilled professionals—from the welcoming smile at a hotel reception to exceptional culinary creations and impeccable restaurant service. As India’s tourism and hospitality sector continues to expand rapidly, the demand for globally competent professionals has never been greater.
IndiaSkills serves as the country’s premier platform to identify, nurture, and showcase young talent, preparing them to compete at the prestigious WorldSkills Competition, often referred to as the Olympics of Skills. For hospitality students and young professionals, IndiaSkills is far more than a competition—it is a pathway to excellence, international exposure, and rewarding careers.
Where Passion Meets Opportunity
Organised under the Skill India Mission, IndiaSkills evaluates participants through real workplace scenarios rather than conventional written examinations. Competitors are assessed on technical expertise, communication, problem-solving, professionalism, time management, and customer service—skills that define success in the hospitality industry.
The competition provides students with practical exposure that closely mirrors the expectations of luxury hotels, restaurants, and hospitality businesses.

A Platform for Every Aspiring Hospitality Professional
IndiaSkills welcomes participants from Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs), hospitality colleges, universities, vocational institutions, and young professionals working in the industry.
Every WorldSkills cycle follows international age eligibility norms, but success depends on dedication, discipline, technical competence, and the willingness to continuously improve.
Registration is done through the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), where candidates choose their preferred hospitality skill and begin a journey that could eventually lead to representing India on the global stage.
The Road to IndiaSkills
IndiaSkills follows a rigorous multi-stage selection process designed to identify the country’s finest talent.
After registration and preliminary screening, qualified candidates participate in regional competitions where they perform real hospitality tasks under competition conditions. Hotel Reception, Restaurant Service, Bakery, Cooking, and Patisserie competitors demonstrate their technical abilities while being evaluated on speed, accuracy, service standards, and professionalism.
The best competitors advance to the IndiaSkills National Competition, where they compete under internationally benchmarked standards.
Winning at the national level is only the beginning. Those selected for WorldSkills undergo months of intensive expert-led training to prepare for one of the world’s toughest vocational competitions.
Preparing for the World Stage
WorldSkills preparation resembles that of elite athletes. Competitors undergo structured technical training, mock competitions, communication development, performance reviews, and psychological preparation.
Highly experienced Skill Experts and Chief Experts mentor every competitor, helping them refine technical skills while developing confidence, resilience, adaptability, and professionalism.
Leading hotel chains, hospitality organisations, culinary institutes, and industry partners further strengthen the training ecosystem by providing access to real operational environments where competitors gain practical experience aligned with international standards.
WorldSkills: Competing with the Best
WorldSkills is the world’s largest international vocational skills competition, bringing together young professionals from more than 70 countries and regions across over 60 skill categories.
For hospitality competitors, WorldSkills offers unparalleled exposure to global service standards, emerging technologies, diverse cultures, and international best practices.
Representing India at this prestigious competition is both an honour and a responsibility.
India’s Growing Success
India’s performance at WorldSkills has improved significantly over the years, particularly in hospitality skills.
Indian competitors have consistently earned medals and Medallions for Excellence across hospitality disciplines.
Recent achievements include:
