Bhavnagar Para Yard to Create Additional Railway Capacity

New Delhi, September 1, 2026: Indian Railways has sanctioned the Bhavnagar Para (BVP) Yard Remodeling project in Gujarat at an estimated cost of ₹125 crore, with the objective of strengthening railway infrastructure and improving train operations in the Bhavnagar region.

A key focus of the project is to decongest Bhavnagar Terminus (BVC) by shifting stabling and other operational activities to Bhavnagar Para. The additional yard capacity is expected to provide greater flexibility in managing train movements, reduce rake detention and support improved punctuality.

Major Yard and Signalling Infrastructure Upgrade

The remodeling project will introduce a range of new operational infrastructure at Bhavnagar Para. This includes four loop lines, an engine reversal line, ART and ARME siding, along with the relocation of the Station and Electronic Interlocking (EI) building.

The project will also include associated electrical and signalling works and service buildings, creating additional infrastructure to support efficient train operations.

By shifting selected activities away from Bhavnagar Terminus, the project is expected to reduce operational pressure at the existing terminal and enable smoother handling of train movements.

Passenger Facilities to Get a Major Upgrade

The project also places emphasis on passenger convenience at Bhavnagar Para station.

A new high-level island passenger platform will be constructed, while the existing Platform No. 2 will be widened. The existing Foot Over Bridge will be extended and one new FOB will also be constructed to improve passenger circulation and connectivity within the station.

Two Road Under Bridges (RUBs) are planned as part of the project, including one new RUB and an extension of an existing structure. These facilities are expected to improve access around the station while supporting safer movement between different areas.
