Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on October 30, 2026, at Banaskantha, Gujarat. More than ₹18,690 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 9.34 crore eligible farmers across the country.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in a PIB release dated October 29, 2026.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will participate in a programme marking the instalment release at Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, where farmers from the region are expected to attend.
With the upcoming transfer, the government aims to continue providing direct income support to farming households, helping them meet agricultural and household expenses.
PM-KISAN Disbursements Cross ₹4.47 Lakh Crore
Through the first 23 instalments of PM-KISAN, the government has already transferred more than ₹4.47 lakh crore to eligible farmers.
The scheme provides financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer, supporting farmers’ livelihood security and agricultural expenditure.
Other government initiatives highlighted alongside PM-KISAN include the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, Minimum Support Price (MSP), Per Drop More Crop, National Mission on Edible Oils, Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses and National Mission on Natural Farming.
These programmes focus on agricultural credit, crop insurance, irrigation efficiency, improved production and sustainable farming practices.
521 Agriculture Infrastructure Fund Units to Strengthen Storage and Processing
Alongside the PM-KISAN instalment, the Prime Minister will dedicate 521 units established under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund to the nation.
The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund supports investment in essential post-harvest infrastructure, including:
- Warehouses and agricultural storage facilities.
- Cold storage infrastructure.
- Primary agricultural processing centres.
- Other post-harvest management facilities.
According to the Ministry, approximately ₹1.75 lakh crore has been invested across more than 2.28 lakh projects under the AIF.
The infrastructure is expected to reduce post-harvest losses, improve market access, strengthen processing capacity and help farmers secure better returns for their produce.
12 Horticulture Clusters to Promote High-Value Crops
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 12 horticulture clusters aimed at promoting high-value horticultural crops and improving farmers’ income opportunities.
The initiative is intended to strengthen horticulture value chains and encourage diversification towards commercially valuable crops.
Improved horticultural infrastructure and organised production can support better linkages between farmers, aggregators, storage facilities, processors and markets.
Impact on Hospitality, Food Processing and Travel & Tourism
The announcement of 521 agricultural infrastructure units and 12 horticulture clusters has particular relevance for India’s food processing, beverage and hospitality industries.
1. Better Agricultural Storage and Food Supply Chains
The expansion of warehouses and cold storage facilities could help improve the preservation and movement of agricultural produce. This is particularly relevant for hotels, restaurants, catering companies and institutional food buyers that depend on consistent supplies of fresh ingredients.
2. Opportunities for Food Processing and Beverage Businesses
Improved primary processing infrastructure can support the development of value-added food products. Horticultural produce can be channelled into fruit pulp, juices, concentrates, preserves and other processed food categories, creating opportunities for food and beverage manufacturers.
3. Stronger Sourcing Opportunities for Hotels and Restaurants
The development of horticulture clusters could encourage more organised sourcing of fruits, vegetables and other high-value crops. Better connections between farmers, processors and institutional buyers may support regional procurement networks for hospitality businesses.
4. Potential Growth in Farm-Based and Rural Tourism
Horticulture clusters and organised farming activities could create opportunities for agricultural experiences, orchard visits and local food tourism. Such developments may complement rural tourism initiatives and encourage visitors to explore regional agricultural products and food traditions.
5. Financial Support to Farmers and Local Food Economies
The ₹18,690 crore PM-KISAN transfer is intended to provide income support to farming households. Alongside investments in agricultural infrastructure, it could contribute to economic activity in rural markets and strengthen the broader food production ecosystem.
Strengthening India’s Agricultural Infrastructure for Viksit Bharat
The release of the 24th PM-KISAN instalment, dedication of 521 Agriculture Infrastructure Fund units and inauguration of 12 horticulture clusters represent three interconnected areas of agricultural support: farmer income assistance, post-harvest infrastructure and high-value crop diversification.
Through these initiatives, the government aims to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen storage and processing capabilities and support a more resilient and self-reliant farming sector.
For the wider hospitality and tourism industry, the development of agricultural infrastructure and horticulture value chains could offer long-term opportunities in food procurement, processing, cold-chain logistics and regional culinary tourism.
