Indian Railways has approved two new MEMU services connecting Meerut City with Khurja and Saharanpur, adding regional rail options for passengers across important sections of Uttar Pradesh.

The services will operate as Train No. 64573/64574 Khurja–Meerut City MEMU and Train No. 64580/64579 Saharanpur–Meerut City MEMU. Both services will stop at all en-route stations, expanding access for passengers travelling between smaller towns and the larger urban centres of Meerut, Khurja and Saharanpur.

Key Highlights

  • Two new MEMU services approved between Meerut City–Khurja and Meerut City–Saharanpur.
  • Both services will serve all en-route stations.
  • Khurja–Meerut journey time: 4 hours 5 minutes.
  • Meerut–Khurja journey time: 4 hours 35 minutes.
  • Saharanpur–Meerut journey time: 2 hours 20 minutes.
  • Meerut–Saharanpur journey time: 2 hours 55 minutes.
  • Adds regional connectivity around Meerut City.
  • Provides additional options for daily commuters, business travellers and regional visitors.

Meerut–Khurja MEMU to Serve All Stations

Train No. 64573 Khurja–Meerut City MEMU will depart Khurja at 1:15 PM and reach Meerut City at 5:20 PM, completing the journey in 4 hours and 5 minutes.

In the return direction, Train No. 64574 Meerut City–Khurja MEMU will depart Meerut City at 11:25 AM and arrive at Khurja at 4:00 PM, with a journey time of 4 hours and 35 minutes.

With commercial stoppages at every station along the route, the service is designed to provide wider regional accessibility rather than serving only major stations.

New Saharanpur–Meerut MEMU Adds Morning and Evening Connectivity

The second service will connect Saharanpur and Meerut City.

Train No. 64580 Saharanpur–Meerut City MEMU will leave Saharanpur at 5:50 AM and arrive in Meerut at 8:10 AM, taking 2 hours and 20 minutes.

The return service, Train No. 64579 Meerut City–Saharanpur MEMU, will depart Meerut City at 5:45 PM and reach Saharanpur at 8:40 PM, with a journey time of 2 hours and 55 minutes.

Like the Khurja service, this train will stop at all en-route stations.

Strengthening Regional Mobility Across Uttar Pradesh

The two MEMU services are centred around Meerut City, creating additional rail options for passengers travelling between Meerut and surrounding towns.

Such all-station services can be particularly relevant for commuters, students, employees, small businesses and visitors travelling between smaller settlements and major urban centres.

The enhanced connectivity can also support movement towards larger transport and commercial hubs, allowing passengers greater flexibility for onward travel.

Impact on Hospitality, Travel & Tourism

While the services are primarily intended to strengthen regional passenger connectivity, improved rail access can also benefit the wider travel ecosystem.

  • Regional tourism: Easier access to towns and destinations around Meerut, Khurja and Saharanpur can support short-distance travel.
  • Business travel: More frequent regional options can facilitate movement between commercial centres.
  • Hotels and accommodation: Increased visitor mobility may support demand for stays in Meerut and surrounding cities.
  • Food & beverage: Restaurants and cafés around stations and commercial areas could benefit from greater passenger movement.
  • Local transport: Auto-rickshaws, taxis and other last-mile services can gain from additional passenger flows.
  • Emerging destinations: All-station services make smaller towns more accessible to visitors, potentially supporting local tourism businesses.

Industry Takeaway

The introduction of the Khurja–Meerut City and Saharanpur–Meerut City MEMU services strengthens the regional rail network around Meerut and provides connectivity beyond major urban stations by serving all en-route stops.

For the hospitality and tourism industry, better regional rail access can support short-distance leisure travel, business mobility and visitor movement, while helping smaller towns connect more effectively with larger commercial and transport centres in Uttar Pradesh.
