Roadmap for a More Competitive Tourism Industry
Prepared after an extensive review of regulations governing accommodation providers, hotels, homestays, food and beverage establishments, tour operators and tourism infrastructure projects, the report identifies several regulatory bottlenecks that affect investment, project execution and accommodation capacity.
Among its key recommendations are:

The National Workshop brought together representatives from State Governments, hospitality associations, online travel platforms, tourism businesses, academic institutions and Central Ministries to discuss tourism investments, regulatory reforms, sustainability and long-term sectoral growth.
The event concluded with a collective commitment from stakeholders to implement reforms that support a simpler, innovation-driven and globally competitive tourism ecosystem.
Hospitality & Tourism Impact
The report is one of the most significant policy documents released for India’s hospitality and tourism sector in recent years. If implemented, its recommendations could substantially improve the business environment for hotels, resorts, restaurants, homestays, travel companies, tour operators and tourism investors.
Simplified regulations, faster approvals and reduced compliance burdens are expected to encourage new hotel developments, expand accommodation capacity and improve investor confidence. Greater emphasis on sustainable tourism, entrepreneurship and community participation could also create new opportunities for rural tourism, heritage destinations, experiential travel and local hospitality businesses.
For the hospitality industry, the roadmap signals a stronger policy focus on making India a globally competitive tourism destination while supporting long-term investment, innovation and employment growth.
