Held under this year’s global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the event brought together senior government officials and employees for a guided yoga session based on the Common Yoga Protocol. The programme began with a ceremonial lamp lighting followed by the Yoga Pledge administered by Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha.
Addressing participants, Sinha encouraged employees to move beyond symbolic celebrations and adopt yoga as a daily lifestyle practice.
“Yoga, pranayama and meditation should become an integral part of our daily routine. Regular practice contributes to better health, increased energy, greater discipline and a balanced lifestyle,” he said.
The event also witnessed participation from Airports Authority of India Chairman Vipin Kumar, Additional Secretary Puneet Kansal, and other senior officials, highlighting the Ministry’s growing emphasis on holistic health and employee wellness within India’s aviation ecosystem.

Hospitality & Tourism Impact
The government’s continued promotion of wellness through yoga aligns closely with India’s positioning as a global wellness tourism destination. Such initiatives strengthen the country’s image among international travellers seeking wellness experiences, while also encouraging airports, airlines, hotels, resorts and hospitality businesses to integrate yoga and wellness programmes into guest experiences and employee engagement initiatives.
With wellness tourism emerging as one of the fastest-growing travel segments, government-led campaigns like International Day of Yoga continue to support tourism promotion, destination branding and healthier workplace practices across the hospitality and aviation sectors.
