Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh to launch integrated digital platform for livestock insurance on 28 September

The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India, is set to launch the Livestock Insurance Portal in New Delhi on 28 September 2026, marking a step towards the digital transformation of livestock insurance services in the country.

The portal will be launched by Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj.

Key Highlights

  • Livestock Insurance Portal to be launched on 28 September 2026.
  • The platform will provide an integrated digital system for livestock insurance.
  • It will support policy issuance, claim processing, monitoring and reporting.
  • Services will be available in 11 regional languages, Hindi and English.
  • The portal aims to make livestock insurance more transparent, efficient and accessible.
  • Real-time monitoring and data-driven management will support improved programme administration.
  • The initiative is intended to strengthen risk protection for livestock farmers and support livelihood sustainability.

Single Digital Platform for Livestock Insurance

The new portal will provide a unified digital platform for insurance services under the Livestock Insurance Scheme of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying.

It will streamline key processes including policy issuance, claims processing, monitoring and reporting, enabling greater coordination among stakeholders and improving the overall delivery of insurance services.

Services in 13 Languages

To expand accessibility, the portal will be available in 11 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English.

The multilingual approach is intended to make livestock insurance-related information and services easier to access for farmers in languages familiar to them.

The government has positioned the initiative as part of its effort to bring technology-enabled services closer to livestock farmers across the country.

Focus on Transparency and Real-Time Monitoring

The portal will also support real-time monitoring and data-driven management of livestock insurance programmes.

According to the Department, the digital platform is expected to improve institutional coordination, strengthen monitoring and reporting, and contribute to more efficient service delivery.

The initiative is aimed at simplifying insurance processes while strengthening institutional efficiency and risk protection for livestock farmers.

Impact on Hospitality and Tourism

The livestock insurance platform has an indirect relevance to the hospitality and food ecosystem, particularly through the stability of livestock-based rural livelihoods and agricultural supply chains.

Livestock insurance can provide risk protection to farmers whose activities contribute to the wider dairy, meat and animal-product supply chain serving food businesses. A more accessible digital insurance system could therefore support greater resilience within the upstream rural economy.

For hospitality and tourism, the impact is primarily indirect. The PIB release does not announce any specific hospitality or tourism programme linked to the portal.
