New Delhi, June 5: Indian Railways marked World Environment Day with a strong focus on sustainability and modernisation as Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed key green mobility projects and passenger infrastructure developments across the Northern Railway network.

During a comprehensive inspection of the Tilak Bridge–Shakur Basti rail section, the minister assessed progress on several strategic initiatives, including India’s ambitious hydrogen train programme, advanced maintenance technologies and the ongoing redevelopment of Gurugram Railway Station.

The visit underscores Indian Railways’ broader effort to combine sustainability, technology adoption and passenger-centric infrastructure upgrades as part of its long-term modernization roadmap.
