The programme formed part of Indian Railways’ broader effort to encourage collective participation in the national celebrations and reinforce the values of patriotism and unity among its employees.
Impact on travel, tourism and hospitality

While the celebrations are primarily organisational and cultural in nature, the programme also contributes to the broader tourism and cultural narrative around India’s national heritage.
Cultural tourism: Initiatives highlighting the history of ‘Vande Mataram’ and India’s national identity contribute to the country’s wider cultural tourism ecosystem.
Railway heritage: Indian Railways itself remains an important part of India’s heritage and travel experience, with railway stations, historic routes and railway infrastructure featuring in tourism itineraries.
Domestic travel: National celebrations around Independence Day can stimulate domestic travel and visits to destinations associated with India’s freedom movement and cultural history.
Hospitality sector: Increased domestic movement during the Independence Day period can support demand for hotels, restaurants, transport services and local tourism experiences.
