Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Celebrates Fourth Convocation with Focus on Transport Innovation

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), the Central University dedicated to transportation and logistics education, celebrated its Fourth Convocation on 17 July 2026, graduating 121 students across its B.Tech. and MBA programmes.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the introduction of the university’s first MBA in Metro Rail Management, reflecting India’s growing demand for specialised talent in urban mobility and mass transit systems.

The convocation was attended by Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu as Chief Guest, along with transportation pioneer E. Sreedharan, Member of Parliament Dr. Hemang Joshi, Shubhanginiraje Gaekwad, Secretary, Civil Aviation Samir Kumar Sinha, and Sukaran Singh, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Advanced Systems Limited.

E. Sreedharan Receives First Honorary Doctorate

In a landmark moment, GSV conferred its first Honorary Ph.D. (Honoris Causa) upon E. Sreedharan in recognition of his transformative contribution to India’s transportation and infrastructure sector.

Addressing students, Sreedharan encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning while upholding values such as punctuality, integrity, professionalism and public service.

‘Movement, Momentum and Mission’ Key to Viksit Bharat

Delivering the convocation address, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu outlined what he described as the “Three Ms” essential for India’s development:

• Momentum
• Mission

The Minister highlighted India’s rapid progress across transportation infrastructure, particularly in aviation and the PM Gati Shakti initiative.

He also underscored the expanding role of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector, describing it as a major employment generator for skilled youth.

Naidu praised the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) curriculum developed jointly by GSV and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) within just four months, reaffirming the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s support for the university.

Industry-Driven Education Continues to Expand

The university also recognised academic excellence by awarding Gold Medals, Outstanding Project Awards and the Best Graduating Student Award.

During the event, Member of Parliament Dr. Hemang Joshi applauded GSV’s 100% placement record, while industry leaders encouraged graduates to embrace innovation, sustainability and technological transformation.

GSV Vice Chancellor Prof. Manoj Choudhary presented the university’s progress report, highlighting its growing role in building skilled professionals for India’s transportation ecosystem.

Established in December 2022 under the Ministry of Railways, GSV offers programmes spanning:
