New Delhi, July 14, 2026: The two-day BRICS Heads of Anti-Drug Agencies Meeting concluded successfully at Mayfair Spring Valley Resort in Guwahati, bringing together Heads of Anti-Drug Agencies and senior officials from all 11 BRICS member countries under India’s BRICS Presidency. Organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on July 6 and 7, 2026, the meeting focused on strengthening international cooperation to combat drug trafficking and organised crime, while reinforcing Guwahati’s emergence as a preferred destination for global policy engagements. As the host resort, Mayfair Spring Valley Resort provided accommodation and hospitality services for the visiting international delegates, ensuring a comfortable and seamless experience throughout the event.
The meeting was aimed at strengthening cooperation among BRICS nations to tackle the growing challenge of drug trafficking and organised crime. During the two-day discussions, member countries exchanged views on intelligence sharing for faster information exchange, operational coordination to improve joint action across borders, and capacity building to strengthen the capabilities of anti-drug agencies. The agenda also covered the growing threat of synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances (NPS), ways to prevent the misuse of precursor chemicals used in illegal drug production, measures to tackle darknet-enabled drug trafficking, and the use of digital technologies to strengthen enforcement.
The successful conclusion of the meeting reinforced Guwahati’s emergence as a destination for international cooperation and strategic policy dialogue.
