Singapore, 25 May 2026 — Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree welcomes Michel Scheffers as General Manager, further strengthening the resort’s leadership team as it continues to elevate its positioning within the region’s luxury hospitality and destination resort landscape. 

An accomplished hotelier with over 25 years of experience across luxury and lifestyle hospitality brands, Michel brings a strong track record in hotel operations, commercial strategy, repositioning, and asset enhancement across key Asian markets, including Thailand, Singapore, India, the Maldives, and Hong Kong. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership roles with globally recognised hospitality groups such as ONYX Hospitality Group, Shangri-La, and Hilton, where he has been instrumental in driving operational and guest experience excellence, fostering a holistic team culture, and sustaining business growth across multiple properties.

Known for his people-centric leadership style, Michel joins the resort at an exciting phase of growth as it continues to lead and strengthen Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree’s positioning for immersive nature-driven, sustainable hospitality experiences within the unique Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Singapore’s leading nature and wildlife destination.


Michel also shares an avid appreciation for wildlife and outdoor exploration, closely aligning with the resort’s key vision, which seeks to create restorative connections that encourage guests to appreciate and experience the natural world more meaningfully.
