  • 12 Integrated Aquaparks approved
    • The Department of Fisheries has approved 12 Integrated Aquaparks under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
    • Total investment: ₹713.80 crore.

    • An Integrated Aquapark has been approved for Andhra Pradesh at a cost of ₹88.08 crore.

Fisheries infrastructure and export ecosystem

The Government highlighted several national initiatives under PMMSY:

  • 34 production and processing clusters notified across States and UTs.
  • 11 new fishing harbours approved.
  • 11 fishing harbours sanctioned for modernization/upgradation.
  • 23 modern Fish Landing Centres approved.
  • 284 deep-sea fishing vessels sanctioned.
  • 121 value-added enterprise units supported.
  • 12 Integrated Aquaparks approved as end-to-end fisheries value-chain hubs.
  • Under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), 18 private-sector projects have been approved for modern fish processing plants, cold-chain facilities and value-addition infrastructure.

Skill development

The release also highlights capacity building under PMMSY:

  • The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) has conducted 4,041 training programmes.
  • These programmes have benefited 1,75,261 fishers across the country.
